During October 17-19 Sandis Vi?ums attended the 6th International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technologies (AICT 2012) in Georgia. The AICT2012 took place at 4 different location in Tbilisi: Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel (Opening Ceremony), Tbilisi State University, International Black Sea University and Georgian Technical University.

The AICT2012 International Conference is a forum to bring together business people, researchers, scientists, software architects, and industry professionals to discuss innovative ideas and diverse topics on next generation of information technologies and services. Using this forum, researchers and practitioners can exchange issues, challenges, new business models and structures, and new technologies and solutions. The AICT2012 aims at attracting both researchers from academic and industrial institutions and practitioners from industry.

The paper "Vilums S., Kozlinskis E., Brusbardis V., Application of functional state modelling approach for yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae fed-batch fermentation modelling" was presented.

During October 7-9 Andrejs Kostromins and Agris Pentjuss attended the 2nd Conference on Constraint-based Reconstruction and Analysis (COBRA 2012) in Denmark. The conference took place at hotel Marienlyst in Elsinore which is only 5 km from Helsingborg and is located near the coast of the Baltic Sea.

World leading as well as young scientists were brought together to discuss latest progress in Constraint-based Reconstruction and Analysis (COBRA). Scientific Topics included: 1) Chemical Production Towards Second Generation Biorefineries for Chemical Production, 2) Mammalian Metabolism, 3) Novel Algorithms and Software Development, 4) Adaption and Evolution.

Two posters were presented from Latvia: 1) Kostromins A., Stalidzans E., Paint4Net: flexible visualization of the COBRA Toolbox reconstructions and models, 2) Pentjuss A., Kalnenieks U., Stalidzans E. Biotechnological potential of respiring Zymomonas mobilis: a stoichiometric analysis of its central metabolism.

During October 3-5 Ivars Mozga participated in 10th International Conference on Computational Methods in Systems Biology (CMSB 2012) organized by the Centre for Systems and Synthetic Biology, Brunel University at the Royal Society, London, UK.

CMSB 2012 was an opportunity to hear about the latest research on the analysis of biological systems, networks, and data. The conference brought together computer scientists, biologists, mathematicians, engineers, and physicists interested in a system-level understanding of biological processes. The entire event was held at the Royal Society's headquarters in central London. The programme included presentations (three invited talks, 17 full length papers, 8 flash presentations) and a poster session (14 regular posters).
